Marie Antoinette ~ Sociere Diabolique Halloween Card

Creating this card out of my Marie Antoinette treasures was the greatest fun. I love love love Halloween and had this in my head for a full year before getting down to business and creating a card design.

I like to think it is Marie, stepping down from her carriage (a Pumpkin Coach, of course), sparkling and beautiful, ready for a clandestine meeting with her Vampyre lover.
I love to romanticize Vampires, so this was my opportunity to share my romantic ideas for Halloween.

I created a little matching stamp in my paulette paris* Zazzle store to match and the cards are for sale there too, but secretly the ones that I produce personally for my store on Etsy for Paper Nosh are glittered with a gorgeous black glitter and printed on my fav 110lb papers and even though they take forever to receive as I am so swamped they are worth the wait. ( Always on time for gifting for Halloween if ordered now!)

Jewelry Designs by Barbara Lowe

Sometimes when we travel across the internet we meet exceptional people who have exceptional talent. I want to introduce you to my beautiful new friend, jewelry designer, Barbara Lowe. "Queen Bea" to be exact. I discovered her beautiful jewelry when she purchased sets of my cards in my Etsy store Paper Nosh.

When I saw her picture, it was amazing as I thought she looked so much like me. I had to write and tell her I thought we were twins separated at birth ! ( I flattered myself ! ) It did turn out that we were the same age, even though the likeness I believe comes from some common ethereal interest more so than our physical similarities. Over the last year we have discovered a common thread and a kindred spirit that reaches across the pond and have formed a fun and enjoyable friendship.

Barbara Lowe's original designs of jewelry from necklaces, bracelets and exquisite earrings are each created one of a kind. Her vintage finds are equally beautiful and so unusual. Living in Kent in England she has access to some very beautiful "finds" from vintage fairs and from scouring antique shoppes for just the right piece to incorporate in a new design.

Barbara's background is equally interesting in that she worked for the famous Ossie Clark in the 1960's as his personal assistant and helped to dress the models before they walked the ramps to show some of Ossie's gorgeous flowing prints that were so coveted at that time. Manolo Blahnik has said of Ossie Clark's work: "He created an incredible magic with the body and achieved what fashion should do — produce desire." Ossie Clark and Ossie Clark for Radley clothes are highly sought after, and are worn by well known models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Later, Barbara worked for David Bowie, another fabulously talented and legendary star.
( Think Ziggy Stardust, The Young Americans, China Girl ).
Rolling Stone magazine ranked David Bowie 39th on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time .

The years Barbara spent with these talented people during the height of fashion and the English Invasion must of been so memoriable. I would of loved to have witnessed the goings on at King's Road in London in the late 1960's and early 70's !

At six feet tall Barbara is a formidable beauty with an exquisite fashion sense and fabulous talent. Above are a couple of wonderful clips I was able to get from her from that time in her life.

You can purchase Barbara Lowe's wonderful designs at her Etsy store

The Queens Royal Rocks.

Please contact Barbara through her Etsy store," lovethatjewellery " AKA "A Queen's Royal Rocks "if you are interested in exquisite custom jewelry made just for you !

Paper Nosh New Wedding Invitations

With the new Paper Nosh web site going up I have feverishly been creating my new Wedding line of invitations and announcements.

Figure Magazine approached me through one of my stationery sites, Pink Paris Paperie, as they wanted to feature the Parisian Wallpaper Plates from the Pink Boutique and also asked if I could create a wedding invitation in a coordinating black and white damask with red, as their feature would be black, white and red.

The design work and assembly is finished after a hectic week trying to come up with the design I thought would be worthy of introducing to their readers, and adding as one of the first introductions to the Paper Nosh Wedding line. This is a sneak peek. You can view Figure Magazines Holiday Gift Guide out Nov 1st. I can hardly wait !!

This beautiful new Wedding Invitation design can now be purchased at PaperNosh.com. If you desire something similar in a different colorway please use the "Contact the Designer" form at the bottom of the listing and we can discuss the many creative options available to you.

Monkey Moo Moo or Le Petite Autumn ?

My "daughter of the heart", Donna has been making the most charming hats. She has always been a step ahead of me with what everyone is looking for and what to shop for so I always love to see what she creates.
These darling hats have been created for Nana's, and Glammies and Harry Potter Birthday parties and are so darling I just have to show all of you.

This is Autumn, and she is the whole reason I am a Glammie. Totally the apple of many an eye, but I think I have been introduced to the best endearment ever and that is...........
"Monkey Moo Moo" ! So the brainstorming has begun over a title for Donna's creations, inspired by the little Monkey Moo Moo above :)

Donna is selling her hats at the Golden Goose in California. They have the most exclusive luxury items and her darling hats will be shown right along side the Le Petite Bateau baby clothing line. Who knows where we might see them next ! I'm sure on a celebrity baby.

You can find her line at Monkey Moo Moo, "Wonderful Whimsical Madness" on Etsy. If you are interested in a custom creation you can contact Donna at her new Etsy store. I know she would be thrilled to create something for your little monkey !

Christian The Lion~A True Story

This is a true moment of love for all of us. Fair warning, you will cry, I don't know if its just the video or the song. I cried my eyes out ! The View aired this video, but, I don't watch too much TV, so my friend, the darling Donna ( my son's lovely ex-girlfriend and my "adopted" daughter:) knew how much I would love seeing this, and I knew my readers would love it too.  Take just a minute out of your day and enjoy this sweet love story.

You can read the follow up to this story on the Born Free Blog from Bill Travers the CEO of the Born Free Foundation who knew Christian .  In fact Christian lived in his garden before he was successfully sent to Africa.

I did find the full story finally that you can read here at The Daily Mail in  the UK .

Check out Big Cat Adoptions at  Born Free.Org  you can donate money to help these sometimes abused big cats have a better life through the Born Free Foundation.

I have listed two cards in my Etsy store Paper Nosh that when purchased the complete proceeds will go to benefit the Born Free Foundation.  So you will still receive your cute card or set and I will send the money directly to Born Free.  My design of the "Adopt A Bat Puppy" and "Blue Bird's Helloooo" are darling cards to send to your friends, and as always printed on beautiful 110 lb Lettra Letterpress paper, which is 100% Eco Friendly.

New Profile Cards from PauletteParis at Zazzle

I've had some fun lately creating these little ( 1" x 3" ) "Profile Cards" and placing them for sale in my Zazzle store, PauletteParis. The great thing about having them for sale there is that you can customize them to fit your business, you can have the design front and back, and you get a beautiful choice of papers, and professional design. They even have the sparkling Stardream paper stock that you can choose or one that is called "Indestructible". Nice when you think that you want your recipient to remember you and your business, and not have your pretty card end up in the dreaded "circular file". Plus they have a great selection of fonts to make your name or logo look super !

I am always available to custom design business/and/or/calling cards for you so if you are interested please contact me personally at paulette@papernosh.net, whether you want them printed at Zazzle or you want me to print larger cards or custom shapes for you.

Little Garden On the Prairie

I love Sundays, and today is a beautiful day here, not too hot or humid.  We have been working in our garden and finishing the last of the little plantings I adore for Summer.  My little cottage of a home sits on a corner and it has taken years on this hot prairie to derive a little English Garden from the red soil. But green thumb wins out.  I snapped some little photos that I'm proud of ...... so here is the "Garden on the Prairie"

Its actually even prettier than this, as I have wine grapes, sweet pea & morning glory growing up the lattice of the deck that you can't see in this photo.  Its still early in this part of the country and soon those pretty purple petunias will spread and be a mass of gorgeous color.

Angelina Sugarplum helped out by making sure we did everything just right !
She's a "special" girl in the fact that her mother deserted her as a newborn and I bottle fed her from the time she was a few hours old.  Being asthmatic she's still very bossy  (  and of course has my heart ! )

MY LATEST FIND~MARK IT WITH A "G" MACARONS

On my great search for the best Macaron in the US I happened on Mark It With A "G", in a funny sort of way, looking for someone to do some flash for my new site. How do you like that ?

Mark It With A G is in Shelter Island and owned by a delightful couple who it seems have traveled the world, to arrive back "home" and now have a fabulous French patisserie shop, making a Macaron that could, and does rival a Pierre Herme or even the illustrious LaDuree.

Reed at "Mark It With A "G" was having to wait out the weather and storms we all have been experiencing and the high humidity and electrical outages in order to bake the perfect Macaron for my order, but that she did , and they arrived beautifully boxed and in a wonderful and professional cold pak in perfect condition. There was a lovely personal note from Reed & Jesse telling me that if the pretty little delights didn't arrive in perfect condition they would replace them. But no need at all, they arrived perfectly, and ready for their photoshoot ( yes I took the photos that you see here when the box arrived with my own trusty camera! ) and my private tasting party :)

What a delight and what a wonderful treat !

I think more people read my blog for my references to Macarons than almost anything. Plus the recipe I listed to make your own.

So this I want to share with you all~~ Order some for yourself now ! It just has to be the ultimate indulgence, and this little patisserie has to be the best of the very best for those of us who can't travel to Paris each time we want to indulge !

These photos were taken by me right as I opened the package, and before I wanted to take a bite out of each flavor ! Who could resist ! Thank you so much Mark It With A "G", you are magnificent. If I only could speak French, but you know what I mean !!

Calligraphic Inspiration

I am always discovering blogs that have written about my work, although a belated discovery, this one was quite a compliment.

Written by "Miss Milkshake" on Wedding Bee and titled "Calligraphic Inspiration", Miss Milkshake included me with some very illustrious artist in her blog entry saying:

"Here are some calligraphic inspirations I found so far. I love how they are all international artists, and that they also happen to take great photos."

Other artists include those from Russia, Mexico, and Brazil, plus me here in the US. Woo Hoo ! I checked out each and everyone she referred to and they are all such talented calligraphers.

My work she included was my calligraphic bird stationery with the beautiful fonts. I created these early on and they have always been a big hit with my customers. I now print them on 110 lb Lettra Letterpress paper with my new Epson stylus printer. With the new heavier and softer papers they are so luxurious. Once the German Glass Shard Glitter is applied they become a one of a kind piece of art that I actually have framed here in my office they are so pretty. Some of my clients have even said they have a hard time sending them all and usually hang on to at least one for themselves. Quite a compliment from them and to be blogged about also.

Thank you Miss Milkshake and Wedding Bee.

The Discovery ~ MOO

I made the greatest discovery today. A great company in the UK where I thought I could outsource some printing just happens to have several of my favorite artists designing their greeting cards, mini business cards, and lap top stickers.

You can choose from a package that has the images chosen for you, or you can do like I did and scroll through them all and pick and chose exactly what you want. They have greeting cards, the mini business cards and great laptop stickers if you want to junk up your space. At least the art will be top notch and fun. I must of gone through all 280 pages of art work to decide what little vignettes I wanted for the mini business cards that they offer until I discovered two of my favorite artists, Susan Mitchell, and Kayo Tamiashi.

You can upload your own images too so the possibilities are endless. I wanted my little set of mini cards for little enclosure gifts to my customers in Etsy when they receive my gift wrapped stationery sets. Just another one of those things Ive learned while being a part of Etsy. Everyone seems to play so nice in the sandbox.

Susan Mitchell also has an Etsy store that is fun to check out. Its called " Its A Whimsical Life"

I wanted to buy the store out, and may go back and get more ! Back to work now......my own !

I had a visit tonight from the lovely  Margarita Bloom and she told me she is introducing a new Rose Fragrance called ( ut-o, two of my favorite things Rose and Marie ) Antoinette. I am so excited. I hunt down the Rance soaps that were first created for Josephine and they arent easy to obtain, so I will be excited to see what Margarita Bloom comes up with. You can be assured I will be first in line to try them out. Thanks Margarita ! I'm also liking this Red Carpet Event Body Butter, sounds so yummy !

Nesting Instincts Blog Feature for Paper Nosh

It was fun and quite a compliment to receive an email from Courtney of Nesting Instincts, Feather Your Nest, and have her shout out to me that she had featured my French Rococo Chair design, from my Paper Nosh line of stationery, on her blog. What a great compliment to be featured among so many talented paper artists ! Feeling quite worn out and frazzled trying to keep up with orders in a timely manner, this sort of thing just makes my day brighter ! Thank you so much Courtney !

Paulettes Feature on Aged Vintage Papier

I have been featured this week on Aged Vintage Papier Blog. What an honor and alot of great fun ! I really wanted to say thank you and merci to Amy Sutter for asking to feature me. Writing a Bio is no easy task for someone like me, but as I progressed I realized that I had been moving so quickly in my life in the past two years that it was cathartic to reflect on my progress and those that have been there to support and help me along the way.
You can visit the blog here:
Amy has a lovely website with her beautiful creations called Razz Pizazz Boutique and also an Etsy store by the same name with the most exquisite handmade Parisian journals, tags and cards.

My Grand Obsession with Marie Antoinette

If anyone has seen my work you know how obsessed I am with this time period. The clothing, the hair, the colors, the satin and lace.

This is a breathtaking miniature of a young Antoinette, from the collection of her mother.  They say Marie was approximately 14 years old when this was painted.

Paris, France

Oh my, another lovely image of macarons from LaDuree ! I can't resist. Not only the colors and that warm gorgeous pink but the design on the logo. Yummy! Food as art once again. If I could figure out how to make a card design out of a macaron from LaDuree I would do it !
